Legislation provides for the recovery and treatment of:
25% of the batteries which will be placed in the market until September 2012
45% of the batteries which will be placed in the market from September 2016
Recycling procedures must achieve the following recycling rates:

Recycling of 65% by average weight of batteries and lead-acid accumulators including the recycling of the lead content to the highest possible degree which is technically feasible without any excessive cost.

Recycling of 75% by average weight of batteries and nickel-cadmium accumulators including the recycling of the cadmium content to the highest possible degree which is technically feasible without any excessive cost.

Recycling of 50% by average weight of other batteries and accumulators waste.
